PROJECT OVERVIEW

The College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts needed a comprehensive digital directory system that would allow students, faculty, and visitors to easily discover and connect with staff members across multiple departments.



PROBLEM

• Users struggled to find specific staff members

  • Scattered and inconsistent information

  • No filtering or search functionality

  • Poor accessibility standards

  • System needed to scale for 100+ staff

MY ROLE

UI Designer and Front end development using WordPRess

Define information architecture

Designed wireframes and high-fidelity UI in Figma

Implemented front-end using a low-code platform WordPress

Staff photos create immediate human connection and help users recognize familiar faces

Department Filtering


Primary navigation based on user research showing department-based browsing patterns

Responsive Grid System

Adapts from 4 columns on desktop to single column on mobile for optimal viewing

Consistent Templates

All profiles follow same layout ensuring familiarity and easier maintenance

LEARNINGS

Content strategy is crucial - clear guidelines ensured consistency across 100+ profiles

Progressive disclosure works - summary cards with detailed profiles reduced overwhelm

Accessibility isn't optional - building it from the start saved refactoring time
